Student Support Officer (SSO) role is new to our school.
An SSO supports teachers and other staff to enhance student learning through a focus on wellbeing.
This role at APHS includes coordinating wellbeing programs within the school, as well as working with individual students and their families to connect them with external supports.
Some of the programs we run include:
The Smith Family:
The iTrack program assists students from Years 9 - 11 to explore and access post-school pathways.
Students are partnered with mentors, whom they meet with weekly, to discuss their future options. Mentors provide feedback, relevant information and encourage students to gain experience in their chosen pathway.
The Scholarship program provides families with financial support, which can be used to purchase school resources for students.
Strength:
Strength revolves are three key values: resilience, significance and courage.
The program aims to equip teenage boys with the knowledge and skills to discover who they are and the person they want to become.
It covers a range of topics relevant to changes during adolescence and encourages positive choices towards becoming good men.
