Inclusive Learning Support
The Learning Support Team meets with the purpose of addressing the learning support needs of students through the coordination, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of educational programs.
A key feature of our Learning Support Team is the facilitation of collaborative planning and the sharing of information between teachers, support staff, parents and students. This involves creating a support package, identifying the students' strengths, skills, interests, challenges and preferred learning styles.
Assessment scales from Best Start and NAPLAN results, map a student’s progress, providing school systems the ability to identify those students who are experiencing difficulties with their learning, offering additional support in mainstream classes. Teacher observations are also used to determine when referring a student for assessment and/or support.
Student learning issues are discussed at fortnightly meetings amongst relevant staff. Collaborating referrals from concerned teachers and parents. Once all processes are complete, the Individual Education Plan is circulated with the consent of the parent or carer to all relevant staff members involved. Our commitment focuses on effectively supporting these students with curriculum adjustments and their set goals.
NSW public schools are well prepared to support students with disability and additional learning and support needs and staff are ready to answer your questions.
