Welcome to APHS Library

We are passionate about books and learning - they are the window into world's beyond our imagination. Through books we can live millions of lives and see the world and ourselves differently.

The Library friendly staff who can assist you are:

Carol Griffin - Library Assistant

Lisa Hoole - LIbrarian

Jayson Pencil - Technical Support Officer

APHS Library houses a broad collection of fiction and non-fiction resources to support students and teachers in their teaching and learning.  These resources also include reference materials, teacher resources, graphic novels, picture books (including Manga) senior study guides and magazines.

A light and airy space, APHS Library contains two teaching spaces including 24 computers and an interactive whiteboard teaching space.  The Library also houses the Indigenous Tutoring room, a Distance Education room, a designated Senior Study space and seminar rooms for staff and student use.

Please speak to our friendly and helpful staff if you cannot find the information you need.  Alternatively, please feel free to have a chat with Mrs Hoole about your favourite book or author, or any suggestions you may like to see added to our collection.  Nightly reading of 15 minutes is part of English Homework for junior students, to help consolidate and improve literacy skills.

Senior Study: this designated space provides a lounge and work areas for senior students to use during study periods.  It includes a lounge for quiet reading and two computers for senior study use.  It is available senior students to use from 8am till the end of the school day.

Homework Centre: every Wednesday afternoon from 2:35-4pm, the Library remains open for students to use Library resources to complete homework and assignments.  APHS teachers from a wide variety of faculties volunteer their time to assist students with and difficulties they may have, providing the support they need to complete  work.  A light afternoon tea is also provided for students in attendance.

This is an extremely valuable resource for senior students in their final years and it is completely free of charge.

Tuesday Chess: Please come and join us in the Library seminar rooms on Tuesdays during the long break for a friendly game of social chess.  All players are welcome from beginner to advanced.  APHS also participates in the NSW Junior Chess League Competition for Secondary Students as well offering a variety of other Chess competition opportunities.

Distance Education: each year, a small number of APHS students enrol in a variety of Distance Education courses for subjects that are not offered through the school.  These include languages as well as senior subjects and they are provided through a number of different providers. These students complete their designated course work in the Library and are supervised and assisted by Mrs Hoole.
