Wellbeing

At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

teachers who help students feel welcome and included
access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
help for students who are new or changing year levels
clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
developing health care plans for students
open communication about wellbeing and support.

Wellbeing Team

The Wellbeing Team consists of the Deputy Principal, Head Teacher Wellbeing, Head Teacher Admin, Learning Support Cordinator and the Year Adviser. The team meets to discuss each year group once per fortnight and monitors students' wellbeing or emotional status, individual learning needs, attendance and academic progress so that each child can feel safe and supported to achieve their best at school.

Wellbeing Hub

2023 saw the introduction of a Wellbeing Hub at APHS! This is staffed by our Head Teacher Wellbeing, Student Support Officer and Student Learning Support Officer. The Wellbeing Hub works closely with the Wellbeing Team and School Counsellors to coordinate a range of programs to support students, liase with external providers for supports and programs as well as facilitating the school's Reset & Return system and manage the Wellbeing Hub online digital resources.

Wellbeing Programs

Each year we offer a range of programs to support our students. Theses may differ from year to year to cater to students needs and include both staff and student lead initiatives as well as programs run by external agencies. Please view the range of programs and supports we currently have to offer.
